Black designer accuses LaLa Anthony of stealing her dress

Ash Forde claims Anthony copied one of her dress models to launch Pretty Little Thing, the reality TV star’s new fashion line.

Designate Ash Forde accused La La Anthony to copy one of her dresses and use it in the launch of her own fashion line.

Forde, 28, took to her Instagram account and shared with her more than 90,000 followers that she sent Anthony a dress, apparently at the request of the star’s stylist, Jeremy haynes. She noted that the design came from the launch of her first collection, Maison Ashforde, which would be dedicated to “fearless women”.

“I can’t express the amount of disbelief I am feeling right now. For another black woman to reflect the drawings of another black woman, pure wound. We’ve seen this tale so many times from different cultures, but my daughter – THE NTRE? Forde wrote in a Instagram post.

“Before launching @lala’s stylist @therealnoigjeremy reached out to shoot my first collection for @maisonashforde. We met in New York where I enthusiastically delivered the dress personally, ”she continued. “MY DESIGNS, NO TEAM, NO SUPPORT, MY FUNDING AND FOR FREE. Only to find out that my dress design would be duplicated by a bigger fast fashion brand for @lala’s collaboration with @prettylittlething and it’s sad because we’ve seen this happen too often with small black businesses. We know @lala had to approve these designs. The level of respect is at its lowest. As an influencer and new designer, I never counted small businesses. My rates are correct. I always give recognition and ALL OF MY DESIGNS ARE ORIGINAL. I just thought I would share my story so that it disrupts the cycle that stops in this industry.

In a second post, Forde shares photos of Anthony’s design, according to the caption: “Lack of quality. Lack of detail. Lower price points. Too much produced. Faster manufacturers and financing.

In the initial post, Forde shared screenshots of conversations between her and Haynes. He noted in his own post, which was deleted, that he was not involved in the development of the line and claimed that “the collection was designed and produced before I pulled the dress”.

“I was not involved in the creative process of the line,” he wrote. “Nonetheless, I am very proud of the hard work of my sister @lala. Make sure you all support it.

Anthony has yet to respond to complaints.

Anthony launched her new clothing line, Pretty Little Thing, this week at an event in Los Angeles, where she wore the dress in question, with unique asymmetrical cutouts, on the red carpet.

In some ways, the prosecution is a case of life-imitating art: in the most recent season of adult, Anthony plays Esme Sharpe, a fashion designer who steals a design from Zoey Johnson, played by Yara Shahidi.
